J.L. Moreno is known as the founder and creator of psychodrama (a powerful method for healing). For those who study his work, he is known also as the creator of sociodrama (his method for healing groups) and sociometry (the study and science of relationships, systems, connections seen and unseen, made visible). What is less known about Moreno's work is what he called SOCIATRY: The Evolution of the Self and of Humanity. The purpose of the Zerka T Moreno Foundation is to bring forward, at this moment in the human experience, his work of Sociatry. Sociatry is the seed from which Moreno's work, and ideas, sprang forth. This is captured in codes-formulas-glyphs which are pictorial representation of states of consciousness. Sociatry is the evolution of consciousness. We offer individualized programs of study.
The Foundation offers a range of programs to access this information, under guided and mentored study and application. Programs take place in Western Massachusetts, and in concert with Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in Portugal every few years, also through psychiartic programs, in business, organization and leadership programs, and with an online application. The work of J.L. Moreno, contains formulas, codes and practices for awakening the autonomous healing center. The autonomous healing center was described by Moreno's collaborator and Edward Schreiber's teacher and mentor, Zerka Toeman Moreno. The Foundation was named to honor her discovery.
The autonomous healing center is at our core, it is deep within us, it is what in many Eastern meditation traditions understand to be our original nature, it is the evolutionary impulse of the "first universe". J.L. Moreno realized and wrote of the existence of two corresponding universes: a first universe which existed before the big bang and still exists, a formless field of awakened consciousness and creativity. And a second universe, which is what we recognize as manifestation: time, space, relationship, the me and not me, objects, life span, etc. For most of us, our identity is based solely within this second universe, iwe sense this is who we are. Moreno understood that our full, or true identity was based in the first universe, the cosmos. His method, these formula, codes, practices, are a reclaiming of that larger sense of who we are, a larger identity. To reclaim this changes everything. Moreno realized we have in us a hunger to return to our original nature, to the first universe. His method brings us to an awakening-in-experience of the first universe, the quantum field, the unbridled formless creativity and energy in us and within groups.
The formulas, codes and practices of sociatry unite us with this evolutionary impulse, with this first universe. Sociatry – the evolution of humanity – and our lives – is the embodiment of this evolutionary impulse. The Zerka T. Moreno Foundation, as a not-for-profit Foundation, offers programs of study that bring psychodrama, sociodrama and sociometry as tools of sociatry. CEUs for professionals are offered.
